About SOUL

At the School of Unconditional Love (SOUL), we believe love and liberation are our birthright and that the path of healing and creative expression should be accessible to all.

Our vision is to co-create a global learning platform centering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) that transforms the way we live, learn, work, create and love.

SOUL Mission

We serve as a global learning platform that offers transformational courses, sacred ceremonies, and community gatherings to activate and empower people on their paths to living liberated, love-filled lives.

“LOVE LIBERATES.” ~ Maya Angelou

Our Values

HUMAN

We see you and honor your humanity and divinity. We celebrate the wholeness and complexity of who you are. We invite your ancestry, identity, and intersectionality, all of you is welcome here.

LOVE AS LIBERATION

We believe that the greatest path of liberation is through the healing power of love (for self, others and the divine). We believe that our individual and collective liberation is interconnected and your freedom is our freedom.

HEALING

We believe healing trauma is possible through safe relationships. We believe that healing is not a “nice to have” but a necessity to create the just and equitable world we want to see.

REST

We believe rest, self care, and slowing down are all sacred acts towards the greater liberation movement. When we reclaim rest and collective care, our ancestors rejoice!

BELONGING

We curate and design our offerings to be inclusive for people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs to co-create a sense of communal belonging.

INNER POWER

We believe that true power is not about “power over” but about accessing power from within. As we heal our inner wounding, we integrate, regenerate and remember who we are. From that place of wholeness, we rise our purpose and the roles we are born to play.

Purpose

We are here to help people come home to themselves through the healing power of unconditional love. While that may seem unattainable as humans, it is given to us at birth and serves as our North Star. When we know ourselves, trust ourselves, and love ourselves fully, we become unstoppable. From that place we can elevate and liberate ourselves, our communities, and the world at large.

Black Lives Matter

S.O.U.L. is a collective dedicated to the liberation, celebration and respect of All Black Lives. We are committed to co-creating healing spaces to support Black communities to reclaim love, liberation, justice and joy as their birthright.

Backstory

Inspired by the pioneering efforts of bell hooks and her book “All About Love: New Visions”, SOUL Founder, Lotus Wong, was compelled to create a school that puts love and liberation at the center.

“Schools for love do not exist,” hooks writes. “Everyone assumes that we will know how to love instinctively. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, we still accept that the family is the primary school for love. Those of us who do not learn how to love among family are expected to experience love in romantic relationships. However, this love often eludes us. And we spend a lifetime undoing the damage cased by cruelty, neglect and all manner of lovelessness experienced in our families of origin and in the relationships where we simply did not know what to do. To open our hearts more fully to love’s power and grace we must dare to acknowledge how little we know of love in both theory and practice.

She is 100% right.

From that moment, a seed was planted to create a place to learn about and practice love, slowly but surely, the School of Unconditional Love (SOUL) was born.

“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”
